Bingu for women empowernment

Malawi's president, Dr. Bingu wa Mutharika, has reiterated his commitment towards women empowerment.
Dr. Mutharika said yesterday he wanted Malawian women to rise above the negative stereotype fray and stamd up for their rights.
"My door is always open. That is why I am very happy today to sign the 50/50 protocol on women empowernment.You are free to come and discuss women issues with me, and this extends to SADC wome," said Mutharika.
He is the first Malawian president to appoint a woman for presidential running mate.Joyce Banda becomes the third woman vice head of state in the SADC region.
This has only happened in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
