Latest News: CEDEP defends gay couple's marriage.

Tiwomge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza were arrested after publicly declaring their love for one another in an engagement ceremony in Blantyre on Saturday 26 December. They have been charged with gross indecency according to Section 156 of Malawi's penal code.

CEDEP director Gift Trapense defended them in The Daily TImes saying, " Unless the suspects were caught in the act, the law cannot take charge against them in the absence of evidence that they are involved in a sexual act. what these two people have done is expression of their legal rights. It is another way of testing our law which is silent on such matters. Here are two individuals who are expressing their sexual orientation as human beings. Therefore I do not see any reason why the government should intrude in such an issue."

Attention!
CEDEP administrator Dunker Kamba has been arrested on charges that CEDEP's HIV education materials are pornographic. Such an accusation can only be retaliation for CEDEP's support of Chimbalanga and Molanje. Mr. Kamba is expected to appear in court on 6 January, and your support is very much appreciated.
